Access All Areas Film Festival (AAAFF)

Orange, Griffith, Wagga Wagga, and Sydney will play host to the AAA Film Festival during November with the closing event at Dendy Opera Quays on International Day of People with a Disability, Thursday 3 December.

This fully accessible film festival will see two Australian feature films and a program of Australian short films for children travel through NSW with special guests.

All films will be audio described, open-captioned and wheelchair accessible. Introductions and Q&A sessions will be Auslan interpreted.

Accessible Arts Small Grants

Accessible Arts offers a number of small grants of up to $1,000 to organisations and arts workers to create high quality arts events as part of the 2009 Don’t DIS my ABILITY campaign. These events run throughout November and December in the lead up to International Day for People with a Disability (IDPWD).

Did someone order a dance party?

The Companion Card program promotes the rights of people with a disability who require a companion to fair ticketing at events and venues. To celebrate the Don’t DIS my ABILITY campaign Companion Card are hosting a fully accessible dance party event where all are welcome. Guest DJ Stephen Ferris along with roving entertainers are guaranteed to stimulate the senses.

The Queanbeyan Festival of Ability

Venue: Queanbeyan Park (between Lowe and Campbell Streets), Queanbeyan

The Festival of Ability is a local celebration including many activities such as sports, music and other recreational demonstrations. The day is inclusive of people of all ages and welcomes involvement from charitable organisations and businesses alike.

Many community members attend the festival which includes music, art work, drumming workshops, dancing, face painting and much more. Awards and gift vouchers are presented to those individuals that enthusiastically participate in the spirit of the day. One of the goals of the festival is to promote the contribution of people with a disability and to assist in removing the stigma attached to disability issues.
