Premier’s message
Around the world, people are celebrating International Day of People with a Disability on December 3. In NSW, we aim to celebrate the skills, talents and abilities of our community every day of the year.
The United Nations designated International Day of People with a Disability, to recognise the inherent human rights of people with a disability. The day provides an opportunity for us to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of the 1.2 million people in NSW who have a disability. A day like this has formal international significance, but all year round we must honour its purpose, with friends and families, at social events and in the workplace, and through initiatives that improve accessibility and affordability.
We strive not only to provide services, but to campaign for greater understanding. Education is paramount as we continue to develop into a society that recognises and celebrates our diversity, and the broad spectrum of difference that makes NSW such an exciting state to live in!
I hope you all have a very happy International Day!
